This article explores the potential of integrating local cultural values from Maluku, specifically the Pela Gandong tradition, into pastoral counseling practice as an instrument for the healing and recovery of counselees. Pela Gandong, as a bond of brotherhood between villages that transcends ethnic and religious boundaries, embodies values of solidarity, mutual cooperation (gotong royong), and peace that align with Christian theological teachings. Through a qualitative approach and literature review, this article analyzes how the concept of "saudara gandong" (sibling/brotherhood) and communal approaches can be applied in pastoral counseling to create safe spaces, restore relationships, and strengthen the spirituality of the counselee. The results of the study indicate that the Pela Gandong culture offers a contextual and holistic model of accompaniment, making local traditions an effective means of presenting love, forgiveness, and reconciliation within a diverse society.
