Abstract

This article discusses the complexity and diversity of the concept of culture in the context of anthropology by exploring the multi-faceted discourse on the definition of culture and its components. Through an analysis of the frameworks proposed by various anthropologists such as Edward Burnett Tylor, Clifford Geertz, and Koentjaraningrat, this article aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the understanding of culture from various perspectives. Qualitative method with a content analysis approach is employed to explore the definitions of culture expressed in relevant academic literature. The results of the analysis identify common patterns, key themes, and variations in the views of experts on culture. By highlighting the importance of cultural pluralism and avoiding essentialism, this article asserts that culture is not static but always evolving over time. A deeper understanding of culture and cultural pluralism is expected to promote better intercultural dialogue and build a more inclusive and tolerant global society. Thus, this article makes a valuable contribution to our understanding of the diversity of human culture and offers a strong foundation for further research in this field

Abstract

The Minahasa community is known for its fondness for singing or vocal music. The song that has become the identity of the Minahasa community is known as Ma'kaaruyen. This research explores how the Minahasa community's way of life is interpreted through the song Ma'kaaruyen; a traditional musical artwork originating from Minahasa. Ma'kaaruyen is assumed to be one of the arts that reflects the life of the Minahasa community. Through a qualitative descriptive approach and analysis of the text found in the Ma'kaaruyen song, it was found that it contains meanings that integrate with the values of the Minahasa community's way of life. The musical elements in Ma'kaaruyen reflect the character and nature of traditional Minahasa society, which are associated with simplicity, tranquility, gentleness, cooperation (mapalus), and a loving attitude towards others. The extramusical meaning of Ma'kaaruyen from its lyrics is that Ma'kaaruyen is a song that conveys religious messages, advice, love, and expressions of the heart (lamentation and regret). Thus, the Ma'kaaruyen song has a reconciling function, which includes four main aspects of living in peace: a) reconciling with Allah, b) reconciling with oneself, c) reconciling with fellow human beings, and d) reconciling with the environment.

Abstract

Talaud culture is an integral part of Indonesian culture which has a wide cultural diversity. The Talaud Islands Regency, located in North Sulawesi Province, has a rich and unique culture, which continues to be preserved as the local wisdom of the local community. The Talaud community had cultural values before the gospel entered the land of Porodisa (Talaud), one of which is the Marrengan'nu Rumarada'a Culture which in Indonesian can be interpreted as providing support to the sick who do not heal in the form of a prayer request to God to ask for healing. With the understanding that the pain experienced is the result of resentment and sins committed in the past, it is necessary to make an effort to marrengan'nu rumarada'a which contains the values of togetherness, mutual cooperation, and concern for others. The traditional elders (Ratum banua and inanggu wanua) will play a very important role in this event with expressions or sentences in Talaud

Abstract

The role of developmental psychology is very important in early childhood education, because understanding the stages of child development helps educators in designing appropriate and effective curricula. This research examines this role by showing how the principles of developmental psychology can be applied in the context of early childhood education. Apart from that, this research examines the relationship between developmental psychology and Christian education, which emphasizes spiritual and moral values in the care and education of children. This research also examines the problems that occur in early childhood and looks at what factors cause these problems to occur and provide general treatment. By combining developmental theory and Christian education, this research aims to provide insight into the role of developmental psychology in early childhood education which supports children's cognitive and emotional development and shapes their character and morals in relation to Christian education. This research method uses a descriptive qualitative method, with data collection in the form of interview and observation techniques through several questions given, as well as observations made. It is hoped that the results of this research can become a practical guide for educators and parents in implementing educational strategies that are in accordance with child development values and Christian teachings.

Abstract

This article discusses the importance of developmental psychology in the education of junior high school children, who are in the age range of 10 to 14 years old. Psychology, derived from the words "psyche" (soul) and "logos" (science), is a field that investigates the mental processes, actions and behaviors of humans in relation to their environment. Developmental psychology specifically studies mental and behavioral changes throughout an individual's life. A deep understanding of developmental psychology is essential for educators and parents of middle school children, in order to understand and respond to their physical, cognitive, social, and emotional developmental needs. The methodology used in this study is the desk research method, which involves collecting and analyzing data from various literature sources such as reference books, articles, and journals. Through this method, the researcher identified important ideas, principles, and perspectives relevant to the topic. The research findings show that developmental psychology plays a vital role in the education of middle school children. Educators need to understand children's developmental phases in order to design appropriate learning programs, as well as identify and address developmental issues that may arise. The main challenges in the developmental process of middle school children include the development of technology and social media, academic pressure, media influence, and mental health issues. The proposed solutions include digital education, study time management, emotional support, monitoring social media use, anti-cyberbullying programs, and access to mental health services. Thus, applying the principles of developmental psychology in the education of junior high school children can create a learning environment that supports physical, emotional, and social development, and produce a quality generation. Collaboration between educators, psychologists and parents is essential to achieve this goal.

Religious activities also contribute to mental health and strong self-identity. Furthermore, social interactions within the church community support the development of social skills and children’s sense of competence. In conclusion, Christian religious teachings provide a strong foundation for the holistic development of children, shaping positive character traits and supporting their success in social and academic life.
