<![CDATA[Waste management in Cirebon Regency continues to face serious problems, characterised by rampant illegal waste disposal, accumulation at Temporary Waste Sites (Tempat Pembuangan Sementara, TPS), and limited infrastructure. These conditions have the potential to cause environmental pollution with direct consequences for public health, indicating that waste management implementation has not been running optimally — despite the existence of a legal framework in the form of Cirebon Regency Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2022 concerning Waste Management. This research aims to examine the handling of waste management in Cirebon Regency under that regulation. The research method employed is normative juridical, analysing applicable laws and regulations as the primary source of data. The results of the study show that Regional Regulation Number 5 of 2022 has not been implemented optimally, owing to weak coordination between the Dinas Lingkungan Hidup (DLH) and village governments, limited facilities and infrastructure, and low levels of community compliance with waste management obligations. This situation is further compounded by the ineffective enforcement of environmental law in the field, where the supervisory function has not been carried out optimally and the administrative sanctions stipulated in the Regional Regulation have not been applied firmly or consistently by the relevant authorities. It is therefore necessary to strengthen law enforcement through enhanced supervision and the firm application of administrative sanctions, in order to produce a deterrent effect and prevent the continuation of environmental pollution in Cirebon Regency.]]>
