<![CDATA[This study aims to describe the portrayal of poverty in the novel Seporsi Mie Ayam Sebelum Mati by Brian Khrisna based on Alan Swingewood’s sociology of literature perspective, namely reflection of the age, authorship production, and its relation to history. This study employed a qualitative descriptive method. The research data consisted of quotations from the novel that depict social poverty. Data were collected through reading and note-taking techniques, while data analysis was conducted by identifying, classifying, and describing the data based on the research focus. The results show that the novel portrays poverty through economic hardship, limited employment opportunities, crime, and social stigma. In terms of authorship production, the author presents stories derived from social experiences in the surrounding environment. Meanwhile, from the historical aspect, the novel represents the reality of poverty that still exists in society today. In conclusion, literary works can serve as a reflection of social life in society.]]>
