Background: Typhoid fever is a systemic infectious disease caused by the bacteria Salmonella typhi, which can enter the body through unhygienic food and drink. In Indonesia, typhoid cases have increased every year, with an average morbidity of 500 per 100,000 population and a mortality rate between 0.6-5%. Knowledge of antibiotics is very important, because avoiding antibiotics and potentially increasing mortality. Objective: This study aims to determine the effectiveness of antibiotic use in typhoid fever patients at the Inpatient Installation of Dr. Abdul Aziz Singkawang Regional Hospital in 2022. Method: This study used an observational non-experimental design with retrospective data collection. Data were analyzed using Microsoft Excel. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling with the Slovin formula. The sample used in this study amounted to 104 from a total population of 140 patients. The results showed that typhoid fever patients were mostly women (52%), with the majority of patients aged 18-45 years (44.2%). The most frequently used antibiotics were IV Ceftriaxone in 61 people (58.65%), PO Ciprofloxacin in 16 people (13.38%) and the least was PO Cefixime + PO Ciprofloxacin in 1 person. Conclusion: Based on the results of the study, it can be concluded that the use of antibiotics in typhoid fever patients at Dr. Abdul Aziz Singkawang Regional Hospital was mostly IV Ceftriaxone in 61 people (58.65%).
