This study aimed to describe the use of classroom reading corners in reading activities and their effectiveness at SMPN 1 Makassar. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach, drawing on data from teachers, the principal, and students. Data collection techniques used included observation, interviews, and documentation. Data analysis was conducted through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion. The research results showed that reading corners are utilised as learning resources, instructional media, sources of information, and places for students to read during their spare time. In addition, the effectiveness of the reading corner is evident from the increased reading interest, student independence, and reduced time spent playing at school
