<![CDATA[The scientific article entitled “Bujang Sambilanâ€aims to revive the Minangkabau folktale as a medium for cultural preservation while introducing it to younger generations through a conceptual photography approach. The theoretical framework includes conceptual photography theory as the basis for conveying ideas through visual media, Roland Barthes' semiotic theory to examine the denotative and connotative meanings of the symbols presented, and photographic aesthetics theory, which encompasses composition, lighting, color, and camera angles in constructing a visual narrative. The creative process was carried out through the stages of data collection, literature review, observation, concept development, character and costume creation using action figure dummies, storyboard preparation, photography sessions, and digital processing (digital imaging). The final outcome consists of a series of photographic works that visualize the legend of Bujang Sambilan, beginning with the introduction of the characters, continuing through the conflict, and culminating in the formation of Lake Maninjau. The use of visual symbols and photographic techniques is intended to convey moral values such as honesty, justice, loyalty, and the negative consequences of slander and prejudice. This work is expected to serve as an effective educational and cultural preservation medium for reintroducing Minangkabau folklore to the public, especially the younger generation.]]>
