Improving the productivity of small and medium enterprises (SMEs) through production mechanization requires a reliable and sustainable energy supply. This study aims to design, implement, and evaluate the performance of a 1.2 kWp off-grid rooftop solar photovoltaic (PV) system to support the operation of the Olikan fish cracker processing SME in Kalanganyar Village, Sidoarjo Regency, Indonesia. The research methodology included energy demand assessment, PV system design, system installation, user training, and system performance monitoring and evaluation. The results indicate that the installed PV system generated an average of 1.77 kWh/day during the monitoring period, providing sufficient electricity to operate the production equipment. Further evaluation revealed that energy availability was not the primary constraint limiting productivity improvement. Instead, production capacity was predominantly influenced by market demand, raw material availability, and production scheduling. The implementation of the off-grid rooftop PV system provides a reliable alternative energy source while enhancing productivity, promoting energy independence, and supporting the operational sustainability of fisheries-based SMEs.
