<![CDATA[This study examines how digital transformation is reshaping perceptions of basic needs in contemporary Indonesian urban society. Using a qualitative descriptive approach and secondary data analysis, the study explores the growing integration of internet access, subscription-based services, and cashless financial systems into everyday urban life. The analysis indicates that smartphones, internet connectivity, QRIS infrastructures, e-wallets, streaming subscriptions, and cloud-based applications are increasingly viewed not simply as supporting technologies, but as essential components of communication, mobility, work, financial activity, education, and entertainment. The findings further suggest that recurring subscription systems and cashless financial infrastructures encourage continuous online engagement and convenience-oriented consumption within urban communities. As a result, participation in urban life increasingly depends on access to interconnected online environments that shape social interaction and economic behaviour. A central contribution of this study is the introduction of the concept of digital necessities, which explains how digitally mediated infrastructures are gradually becoming essential requirements for participation in contemporary urban society. These findings contribute to broader discussions on digital society, platform capitalism, urban consumption transformation, and digitally mediated inequality.]]>
