Bakcground Hypertension, or high blood pressure, is a condition in which blood pressure exceeds the normal limit, with systolic readings >140 mmHg or diastolic readings >90 mmHg. Several therapeutic approaches can be used to control blood pressure, including non-pharmacological progressive muscle relaxation therapy. Objective this therapy is beneficial for lowering blood pressure. This study aimed to determine the effect of progressive muscle relaxation therapy on lowering blood pressure in hypertensive patients in the Amarilis room at the PKU Muhammadiyah Pekajangan Islamic Hospital (RSI PKU Muhammadiyah Pekajangan).Method the case study method used in this paper was a quasi-experimental design with a pre-test and post-test design on four patients in the Amarilis room. Blood pressure measurements were taken before and after progressive muscle relaxation therapy using a digital sphygmomanometer. Result the results showed that before progressive muscle relaxation therapy was carried out, all respondents still experienced an increase in blood pressure with an average value of 148/92 mmHg, after progressive muscle relaxation therapy was carried out, namely with an average of 135/83 mmHg. Coclusion of administering progressive muscle relaxation therapy were very influential in the process of reducing blood pressure in patients with hypertension and progressive muscle relaxation therapy can be carried out independently at home after hospital treatment.
