<![CDATA[A community empowerment activity was conducted to address the issue of kitchen waste—which tended to accumulate and often remains underutilized—by repurposing it as raw material for liquid organic fertilizer (POC). The activity took place at the home of the Head of the Sumber Urip Farmer Group in Sumber Kejayan Village, Mayang District, Jember Regency, on Saturday, February 7, 2026, starting at 3:00 pm. Thirty farmers, comprising both men and women, participated in the event. The methodology included observation and preparation phases, a poster presentation accompanied by a discussion session, and hands-on practice in producing a POC, including the 10–14-day fermentation process. The results demonstrated an increased understanding among farmers regarding the benefits of kitchen waste and the techniques for processing it into liquid organic fertilizer. Following the extension session and practical training, the farmers' perspective shifted: they no longer viewed kitchen waste as useless refuse but rather as a resource that could be transformed into a valuable product to support agricultural cultivation. The activity also provided knowledge on the benefits of POC, storage and application methods, and potential challenges during production. Thus, this empowerment program offers a simple, low-cost, and environmentally friendly technological alternative to support farming operations and reduce reliance on chemical fertilizers. ]]>
