The rapid development of telecommunication technology has driven the demand for fast and stable data access, especially in fourth-generation (4G) networks with Long Term Evolution (LTE) technology. One of the key components in supporting wireless network performance is the antenna. This study discusses the design and testing of a pentagon-shaped microstrip patch antenna with MIMO 8x8 and 8x1 array configurations at a frequency of 1.8 GHz. Simulation results show that the MIMO 8x8 antenna has a VSWR value of 1.18803729 dB and a return loss of -46.4300308 dB, with a gain of 2.995 dBi, while the array antenna has a VSWR of 1.5243619, a return loss of -13.65041 dB, and a gain of 10.4 dBi. The radiation patterns of both are directional. Network performance testing shows that the 8x1 array antenna provides an average download speed of 12.65 Mbps with a jitter of 32.1 ms, while the MIMO 8x8 antenna results in a download speed of 10.187 Mbps with a lower jitter of 32.5 ms. Without any antenna, the download speed only reaches 1.571 Mbps with a jitter of 78.8 ms. Therefore, the use of microstrip antennas is proven to significantly improve the quality of wireless network service.
