<![CDATA[The title of this study is Visual and Verbal Communication Elements in a Music Video Entitled Sometimes by Kodaline. This study has two aims, namely to identify the types of visual and verbal elements and to analyze the meanings of elements found in the data such as the music video and song lyrics entitled Sometimes by Kodaline. The pictures are used as visual data and the lyrics are as the verbal data. The method used to collect the data was the documentation method and note-taking technique. The collected data then were analyzed qualitatively based on the two theories applied. The theories that were considered as the principle in this study were the theory on the types of visual elements proposed by Dyer (1993) and the seven types of meaning theory by Leech (1974). The results were then presented descriptively. The analysis pointed out that the five types of visual elements such as appearance, manner, activity, props and settings, and analyzing visual also. The results showed that the manner element in which was related to expression was the most common element found in the data. Meanwhile, the analysis on the types of verbal data showed that there were four types of meaning found, such as the conceptual, connotative, affective, and reflective meanings. The affective type of meaning was considered as the dominant type found in the data, which reflected that the song lyrics truly represented the singer’s feeling at that time.
