<![CDATA[When a person dies, the physical body comes to an end and becomes dust, while the spirit and soul of a person live on. The Bible teaches that the dead will be resurrected by the Lord Jesus at His second coming to earth. On this basis, the question that often arises is: Where are the spirits of the dead before the resurrection? Where do their spirits and souls wait during the period between death and the Lord Jesus' second coming? What is the state of their spirits and souls? Do they still think and move? Do they realize that they are dead? Have they received God's judgment and earned a place in heaven or hell? These questions are often asked by Christians. This paper seeks to explore the Bible's teaching on the existence of the spirits and souls of the dead during the period of death and resurrection. With the aim of obtaining a clear and biblical understanding, so that people who experience sorrow can gain firmness, and people who, doubt, hesitate, and do not believe can reconstruct their beliefs to gain certainty. Keywords: Intermediate State, Spirit and Soul, death, resurrection Ketika manusia mati, maka tubuh jasmaniah akan berakhir, dan menjadi tanah, sedangkan roh dan jiwa manusia tetap hidup. Alkitab mengajarkan bahwa orang-orang yang telah meninggal akan dibangkitkan oleh Tuhan Yesus pada waktu kedatangan-Nya yang kedua kali ke dunia ini. Atas dasar ini maka pertanyaan yang sering muncul adalah: Dimanakah roh orang meninggal berada sebelum masa kebangkitan itu tiba? Dimanakah roh dan jiwa mereka menunggu selama kurun waktu antara kematian dan kedatangan Tuhan Yesus yang keduakali itu tiba? Bagaimana keadaan roh dan jiwa mereka? Apakah masih berpikir dan beraktivitas? Apakah mereka sadar jika mereka sudah mati? Apakah mereka sudah mendapatkan penghukuman dari Allah dan mendapatkan tempat sorga atau neraka? Aneka pertanyaan ini seringkali terlontar dari orang-orang Kristen. Karya tulis ini berusaha untuk menggali pengajaran Alkitab tentang keberadaan roh dan jiwa orang mati pada kurun waktu kematian dan masa kebangkitan. Dengan tujuan agar mendapatkan pemahaman yang jelas dan Alkitabiah, sehingga orang yang mengalami dukacita mendapatkan keteguhan, dan orang yang, ragu, bimbang, tidak percaya dapat merekonstruksi ulang keyakinannya untuk mendapat kepastian.
