Islamic work culture is an important foundation for strengthening teacher professionalism and embedding religious values in school organizations. This study analyzes the principal’s leadership strategies in building an Islamic work culture at SMPIT Imam Syafi’i 2 Pekanbaru, including supporting factors, obstacles, and their effects on teachers’ work behavior. A descriptive qualitative case-study approach was employed through field research. Data were collected using in-depth interviews, observation, and documentation involving the principal as the main informant and the vice principal, head of administration, senior teacher, and Islamic studies teacher as supporting informants. Data were analyzed through data reduction, data display, conclusion drawing, and verification. The findings show that the principal builds Islamic work culture by aligning the school’s vision and mission, practicing exemplary leadership (uswah hasanah), implementing the 5S culture and religious programs, developing teachers, conducting academic supervision and continuous evaluation, and providing rewards. These strategies strengthen discipline, responsibility, honesty, cooperation, and commitment. Implementation is supported by leadership commitment, foundation support, a religious environment, and continuous coaching, while differences in teachers’ backgrounds and consistency in practicing Islamic values remain challenges.
