<![CDATA[This research is motivated by the importance of preserving and strengthening regional cultural identity through performing arts. Ambu Sakanti Dance, created by Sanggar Seni Perwitasari in Tegal City, represents local cultural values through movement, music, makeup and costumes, and props. However, no study has specifically examined cultural identity in the form of Ambu Sakanti Dance. This study aims to examine the cultural identity embodied in the dance form, including theme, movement, dancers, floor patterns, music, makeup and costumes, and props. The novelty of this research lies in applying an ethnocoreological perspective to analyze the relationship between dance form and the cultural identity of the Tegal City community. This qualitative research employed an ethnocoreological approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, then analyzed through data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. The results show that the cultural identity of the coastal community of Tegal City is reflected in movements inspired by fishermen’s activities, accompaniment featuring Tegalan lyrics adapted from Balo-Balo, maritime-themed makeup and costumes, floor patterns, and the use of kepis as a prop. The integration of these elements positions Ambu Sakanti Dance as a medium for representing and preserving the cultural identity of the Tegal City community.]]>
