<![CDATA[This study examines audience reception of humanitarian issues in Habib Ja’far’s da’wah video entitled “Neraka, Kebakaran Los Angeles, dan Gaza (Hell, the Los Angeles Wildfires, and Gaza,)” on the YouTube channel @jedanulis. The study employs qualitative textual analysis, a netnographic approach, and Stuart Hall’s reception theory. The data consist of 30 audience comments purposively selected based on their relevance to the topic and the presence of clearly articulated arguments. The findings reveal three reception positions: 16 comments (53.3%) are dominant-hegemonic, five (16.7%) negotiated, and nine (30.0%) oppositional. Dominant readings support Habib Ja’far’s humanitarian message, particularly empathy for civilian victims and rejection of celebrating disaster. Negotiated readings accept empathy while maintaining theological interpretations of disaster as divine will or warning. Oppositional readings reject universal empathy by viewing the Los Angeles fire as divine punishment or linking it to United States support for Israel.]]>
