Spirituality in Sufism plays an important role in developing inner depth, moral character, and the relationship between human beings and Allah. In the context of modern life, which is confronted with spiritual crises, materialism, intolerance, and the weakening of moral values, the ideas of Nusantara Sufi scholars are important to be reconsidered. This study aims to examine the spirituality of Sheikh Yusuf al-Makassari, including his intellectual background, works, Sufi teachings, and their relevance to the spiritual and social life of society. This study employs a qualitative method with a library research approach by examining various sources related to Sheikh Yusuf al-Makassari and his Sufi thought. The findings show that Sheikh Yusuf's spirituality is oriented toward bringing human beings closer to Allah through monotheism (tawhid), purification of the soul, remembrance of Allah (dhikr), and the integration of sharia, tariqa, haqiqa, and ma'rifa. His teachings are not limited to personal spiritual experiences but are also directed toward the development of moral character, tolerance, religious moderation, social concern, and harmonious social relations. Therefore, the spirituality of Sheikh Yusuf al-Makassari remains relevant to addressing the challenges of modern life by offering a balance between spiritual depth, moral development, and social responsibility.
