The Merdeka Curriculum is an innovative educational policy developed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Research, and Technology of the Republic of Indonesia in response to growing learning challenges, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic. At the senior secondary level (SMA/SMK/MA), including Madrasah Aliyah Negeri (MAN) 2 Gresik in East Java Province, this policy introduces significant changes in learning, assessment, and character development through the Projek Penguatan Profil Pelajar Pancasila (P5). This article evaluates the implementation of the Merdeka Curriculum at the SMA/SMK/MA level with a specific focus on MAN 2 Gresik as a case study, examining available opportunities, encountered challenges, and strengthening strategies adoptable by all education stakeholders. The method used is a literature review analyzing various studies, academic journals, and relevant policies. Findings indicate that while the Merdeka Curriculum creates opportunities for more student-centered learning, implementation at MAN 2 Gresik and similar institutions still faces obstacles including teacher unreadiness, infrastructure inequality, and the need for school culture adjustment. Synergy among government, educational institutions, and all related stakeholders is essential to optimize the Merdeka Curriculum&2019;s objectives.
