Climate change has become one of the biggest global challenges facing humanity in the 21st century. The main cause of climate change is the increase in greenhouse gas emissions, such as carbon dioxide (CO2), methane (CH4), and nitric oxide (N2O), which are significantly causing global warming. This research aims to; (1) Determine the form of carbon estimation modeling based on the NDVI value from Landsat Image 9, (2) Estimate carbon reserves in plantation forest stands. This research was conducted in the Banjarbaru Tropical Rainforest Park (TH2TI), South Kalimantan Province. This study is a type of quantitative research that combines two methods, namely greenery index and field measurement, using remote sensing data from landsat 9 imagery and field observation. The sampling technique was carried out by purposive sampling, with reference to the vegetation index classification map to represent the level of vegetation density through NDVI analysis. The results of this study are (1) carbon reserves of Tropical Rainforest Parks based on the NDVI value from the Lansdsat 9 imagery, obtained a coefficient value of 10533x and a constant value of 2381.2 and a determination coefficient (R2) value of 0.8492 which means that the NDVI value (variable X) affects the carbon value and the error rate of the measurement of carbon sequestration potential with an RMSE accuracy test of 304.20 or 0.33%, (2) the estimated value of carbon stocks in forest stands in TH2TI Banjarbaru with an area of 87.12 ha as a whole of 1008.16 tons. This indicates that the TH2TI Banjarbaru area has the potential to store significant carbon, which has a positive impact on climate change mitigation and environmental conservation efforts.
