Music is a form of art that functions not only as entertainment but also as a medium for communication, conveying ideas, social criticism, cultural representation, and reflections of social reality. This study is motivated by the role of popular music in expressing social and cultural issues through meaningful symbols. The album Sinesthesia by Efek Rumah Kaca uses color as a central element in constructing meaning, with each color representing different social, emotional, and cultural experiences. This study aims to identify the forms of social color in the album Sinesthesia and analyze their meanings and functions using Roland Barthes’ semiotic theory through three levels of meaning: denotation, connotation, and myth. This qualitative study employs a semiotic approach to interpret song lyrics, color symbols, and their social meanings through in-depth analysis. The research data consist of song lyrics from the album Sinesthesia, including Red, Blue, Orange, Green, White, and Yellow. The findings indicate that color symbols function not only as aesthetic elements but also as a sign system representing various social issues, including humanity, identity, power, social inequality, struggle, hope, and criticism of contemporary social conditions.
