Rural tourism development can enhance an area's resilience, but it can also create vulnerability. This study aims to identify trends and research gaps in the resilience and vulnerability of rural tourism. This study identifies research themes frequently associated with these issues. Publication data were obtained from the Scopus database and analyzed using VOSviewer and Biblioshiny software. The study results indicate that research is dominated by the themes of tourism development, community-based tourism, and sustainable development. Furthermore, the distribution of publications indicates that research contributions on this topic are dominated by countries such as China, Spain, and Indonesia. The study also indicates that research on spatial approaches to the resilience and vulnerability of rural tourism remains relatively limited. Therefore, further research has the potential to develop an architectural approach, grounded in spatial analysis, to understand the resilience and vulnerability of rural tourism areas.
