Abstract

The objective of this study is to analyze and compare consumer behavior from the perspectives of conventional economics and Islamic economics—examining the principles, motivations, and considerations underlying consumption activities—in order to identify the similarities and differences in consumption behavior characteristics between the two perspectives. This study employs a library research methodology, which involves utilizing various written sources as primary materials to obtain, process, and analyze data relevant to the research problem. Consumer behavior in conventional economics is grounded in the philosophy of capitalism, where individuals prioritize rationality over spirituality. Consequently, consumers fulfill their life needs by maximizing satisfaction based on requirements and desires driven by reason. Beyond merely meeting needs and exhausting the utility of goods or services, consumption often serves as a means for consumers to achieve maximum satisfaction, pursue luxury, and establish their economic status within society.
