<![CDATA[This study aims to identify the values embedded in the Wailaki Kema Sa’o house-building tradition and their role in strengthening the characters of responsibility and social care among the people of Rukuramba Village, East Nusa Tenggara; analyze the contribution of this local wisdom to the development of responsibility and social care; and examine the supporting and inhibiting factors in its implementation. This research employed an ethnographic study with a qualitative approach. Data were collected through observation, interviews, and documentation, while data validity was ensured through credibility testing, persistent observation, and triangulation. Data were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña (2023), consisting of data condensation, data display, and conclusion drawing. The findings reveal that the Wailaki Kema Sa’o tradition embodies important local wisdom values, including religious, aesthetic, mutual cooperation, moral, and tolerance values. The tradition strengthens responsibility through accountability to duties and trust, family, community, nation and state, and the environment. It also enhances social care by fostering mutual assistance, empathy, tolerance, social action, and noble character. Supporting factors include adequate facilities and infrastructure, community participation and awareness, and village government support, while economic limitations and declining youth involvement remain the main obstacles to its sustainability.]]>
