Household waste management remains one of the environmental challenges faced by communities, particularly due to the low habit of sorting waste at its source. This condition can cause organic and inorganic waste to become mixed, increase the practice of waste burning, and reduce the potential utilization of waste that has functional and economic value. This activity aimed to increase the awareness of the community in Tumanggal Village regarding the importance of sorting organic and inorganic waste and to encourage more sustainable waste utilization. The activity was implemented through several stages, including observation of the initial conditions, the production and provision of mesh waste bins made from wire mesh and used gallons, education on waste sorting, and practical waste sorting and utilization activities. The results showed that education accompanied by the provision of waste-sorting facilities could improve the community's understanding and awareness of the differences between organic and inorganic waste, as well as the benefits of sorting waste at the household level. Paper waste was utilized as material for making keychain crafts, plastic bottles were sorted and sold to collectors to generate additional village funds, while organic household waste was processed into liquid organic fertilizer. These activities provided environmental, economic, and skill-development benefits for the community. The sustainability of the program requires community consistency, facility maintenance, structured waste management, and support from the village government. Thus, waste-sorting education and practical activities can serve as an initial step toward establishing a more orderly, economically beneficial, and sustainable community-based waste management system.
