<![CDATA[This study examines community perception of the environmental and social impacts of the Tiga Saudara Farm layer chicken farm in Gunungjaya Village, Belik District, Pemalang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia. The farm, established in 2018 with a capacity of 500 laying hens, is located only 20–30 meters from residential housing, well below the 250-meter minimum distance stipulated by national livestock zoning regulations. A descriptive quantitative survey was conducted among 40 respondents selected through purposive random sampling, with data collected via questionnaires (five-point Likert scale), interviews, and field observations. Results show that community perception of environmental factors, including air quality, odor-related health disturbance, and cleanliness, falls into the neutral category, while perception of water pollution is categorized as disagreement, indicating that no water contamination is perceived. Chicken manure is widely regarded as a useful organic fertilizer. Regarding social impacts, respondents perceive clear benefits from easier access to eggs and social assistance, whereas awareness of environmental risks and access to government-led waste-management education remain limited. Overall, the community tolerates the farm's proximity because the perceived economic and social benefits outweigh environmental concerns, although improved waste-management education is recommended.]]>
