<![CDATA[Diabetes mellitus is a chronic condition commonly experienced by older adults and affects not only physical health but also mental health, including the risk of depression. Family social support plays an important role in helping older adults manage their illness and reduce depressive symptoms. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between family social support and depression levels among older adults with diabetes mellitus in Limo Village, Depok City. A correlational analytical study with a cross-sectional design was conducted from August to December 2025. A total of 140 older adults were selected using a cluster sampling technique. Data were collected using two structured instruments, namely the Perceived Social Support–Family Scale (PSS-Fa) to measure family social support and the 15-item Geriatric Depression Scale (GDS-15) to assess depression levels, both of which had been tested for validity and reliability. Data analysis using the Spearman correlation test showed a significant relationship between family social support and depression levels (p = 0.000; p < 0.05), with a correlation coefficient of −0.510, indicating a moderate negative correlation. This indicates that higher family social support is associated with lower depression levels among older adults with diabetes mellitus. The findings highlight the importance of family involvement in promotive and preventive mental health efforts. Therefore, families are encouraged to provide continuous emotional, instrumental, and attentional support, while healthcare professionals are expected to enhance education and monitoring of the psychological well-being of older adults with diabetes mellitus.]]>
