Abstract

Digital learning innovations require contextual approaches that integrate regional heritage with modern web platforms to address student engagement challenges. General Background Digital learning innovations require contextual approaches that integrate regional heritage with modern web platforms to address student engagement challenges. Specific Background Indonesian language instruction in elementary schools frequently relies on conventional textbook methods, resulting in low student interest and limited local cultural integration. Knowledge Gap While previous studies have examined web-based learning tools, the simultaneous measurement of student interest and learning outcomes using local folklore-integrated platforms remains limited. Aims This study aimed to develop local culture-based learning media assisted by Google Sites for fifth-grade Indonesian Language learning and to evaluate its validity, practicality, and effectiveness. Results The developed media achieved a high validity score of 94%, high practicality based on teacher responses (91.6%), student responses (93.8%), and learning implementation (95.95%), alongside an N-Gain score of 0.80 and an increase in learning interest from 68.48% to 93.93%. Novelty The integration of Bone folktales into a digital Google Sites repository provides a novel literacy corner that bridges regional heritage with web-based elementary education. Implications This media serves as a viable and practical alternative for educators to foster cultural appreciation and academic achievement in primary classrooms. Highlights The Google Sites media successfully integrated Bone folktales into elementary Indonesian Language learning. Expert validation confirmed the high validity of the developed digital learning platform. Empirical testing demonstrated significant improvements in academic scores and student engagement.
