<![CDATA[Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a vector-borne disease thatremains a significant public health problem in Indonesia. Therefore, itcontinues to be a priority in vector control programs, as no specific cure orvaccine is currently available. This community service program wasconducted in Banta-Bantaeng Village, Rappocini District, Makassar City,involving 25 housewives consisting of Family Welfare Movement (PKK)cadres, Larvae Monitoring Housewives (Bumantik), and Larvae MonitoringVolunteers (Jumantik). The program aimed to improve communityknowledge about DHF, increase awareness of the use of herbal mosquitorepellents made from fingerroot, and provide practical skills in constructingand installing lavitraps as mosquito traps. The methods included healtheducation through lectures, tutorial video presentations, leaflet distribution,group discussions, and hands on training on lavitrap construction and theuse of fingerroot based electric mosquito mats. Program evaluation wasconducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The evaluation wasconducted using pre-test and post-test, with the highest increase inunderstanding of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) which increased from64% to 88%, while knowledge regarding making lavitrap increased from68% to 72%. In addition, participants gained a better understanding of thebenefits of herbal electric mosquito mats and acquired the skills needed toconstruct and install lavitraps as a vector control measure for DHF.
