Abstract

This study aims to analyze differences in Qur'an memorization achievement between female university students enrolled in a tahfidz program and female salaf students at PPTQ Baitul Abidin Darussalam Wonosobo. The study employed a comparative quantitative approach using purposive sampling. The sample consisted of 37 students from the 2023 cohort who had studied for three years, comprising 22 university tahfidz students and 15 salaf students. The data were obtained from documentation of memorization achievement measured in juz. The analysis involved descriptive statistics, the Shapiro-Wilk normality test, Levene's homogeneity test, and the Mann-Whitney U test because one group of data was not normally distributed. The results show that the mean memorization achievement of university tahfidz students was 14.14 juz, while that of salaf students was 17.33 juz. Descriptively, salaf students achieved a higher mean score with a difference of 3.19 juz. However, the Mann-Whitney U test produced U = 127.500, Z = -1.148, and p = 0.251, indicating no statistically significant difference between the two groups. These findings suggest that student status as university or salaf students does not automatically determine memorization achievement. Qur'an memorization achievement should be understood as an interaction among motivation, discipline, consistent review, social support, tutor guidance, and time management.
