This research explores the multifaceted role of Islamic Religious Education (Pendidikan Agama Islam - PAI) teachers in enhancing the learning interest of 10th-grade students in a vocational high school (Sekolah Menengah Atas - SMA) setting. Learning interest often declines at the high school level because PAI material is perceived as monotonous and irrelevant to career needs. This study aims to elaborate on the specific strategies implemented by PAI teachers, particularly concerning the dimensions of motivation and instructional innovation, and to measure their success. Using a descriptive qualitative approach with a case study design at SMA Al-Amanah Jeneponto, data were collected through classroom observation, in-depth interviews with teachers and students, and documentation. Key findings indicate that PAI teachers successfully increased learning interest through four main strategies: (1) Intensive provision of verbal and non-verbal reinforcement, (2) Utilization of varied teaching methods (discussion, role-playing, field visits), (3) Instruction linked to contemporary social and ethical issues, and (4) Creation of supportive interpersonal relationships. This research concludes that the role of the PAI teacher has transformed from merely a material conveyer to a learning facilitator and mentor who effectively integrates spiritual values into students' cognitive interests.
