This study aims to determine the effectiveness of the problem solving learning method on learning to write argumentative essays for class X students. This study is an experimental study. This study uses pretest control group research. The population of this study was 70 class X students of SMA Negeri 2 Bulukumba. The sampling in this study used a total sample (total sampling). The sample in this study was grouped into two groups, namely 35 class X1 students as the experimental class and 35 class X2 students as the control class. The instruments used were observation and tests. The techniques used in data collection were test and observation techniques. Data obtained in two ways were analyzed using descriptive statistics and inferential statistics. To analyze, the data was used Statistical Product Service Solution (SPSS) data processing software. The results showed that the results of the Problem Solving Learning method for Class X SMA Negeri 2 Bulukumba Regency were categorized as adequate. Among the 35 students in the experimental class, there were 31 people who scored above 70 or 88.57%. Meanwhile, in the control class, among 35 students, there were 22 students who scored above 70 or 62.85%. In contrast to the results of the Conventional learning method, the Problem Solving Learning method is Effectively Applied in Learning to Write Argumentative Essays. This can be seen in the t value of 122.556 with a significance (ρ) of 0.000 because ρ ‹ α = 0.05. then the null hypothesis (H0) is rejected and the first hypothesis (H1) is accepted. The results of the analysis indicate that there is a significant difference between the value of creativity in writing argumentative essays in the Problem Solving learning strategy and the conventional learning strategy.
