The flash flood that struck Langsa City at the end of 2025 not only caused physical damage but also disrupted the social and economic conditions of the affected communities. In post-disaster situations, Islamic financial institutions are expected to optimize their social functions through the utilization of Islamic philanthropic instruments to support community recovery in a timely, targeted, and sustainable manner. However, the effectiveness of Islamic philanthropy in supporting post-disaster economic recovery still requires further investigation, particularly regarding its forms of contribution and role in the recovery process. This study aims to analyze the development and implementation of Islamic philanthropy in Langsa City following the flash flood, identify the forms of contribution made by Islamic financial institutions, and evaluate their role in supporting the social and economic recovery of affected communities. This study employed a descriptive qualitative field research approach. Data were collected through observation, in-depth interviews, and documentation, and were analyzed using the interactive model of Miles, Huberman, and Saldaña. The findings reveal that Islamic philanthropy was manifested through the distribution of zakat, infaq, sadaqah, and waqf (ZISWAF) funds, logistical assistance, cash aid, health services, housing rehabilitation, and financing restructuring. These programs contributed to alleviating the economic burden of affected communities and supporting post-disaster recovery, although challenges remain regarding targeting accuracy, coordination, transparency, and program sustainability. This study contributes to the literature on Islamic philanthropy and the social role of Islamic financial institutions in post-disaster economic recovery.
