This study aims to uncover the symbolic meaning of the apocalypse (Qiyāmah) in the Qur’an through the semiotic approach of Roland Barthes, and to reflect on its relevance to the concept of ḥubb al-dunyā (love of the worldly life). The research focuses on four Qur’anic chapters: Al-Wāqi‘ah, Al-Ḥāqqah, Al-Qiyāmah, and Al-Qāri‘ah. The method employed is a two-stage semiotic analysis (denotation-connotation), as well as myth as an ideological discourse. The findings reveal that the symbols of the apocalypse are not merely eschatological in nature, but also contain moral and social messages that resist the hegemony of materialism. Thus, the meaning of the apocalypse in the Qur’an serves as a deconstructive instrument against the mindset of ḥubb al-dunyā, which neglects spiritual and eternal values.
