Abstract

Pregnancy begins with the union of spermatozoa and ovum followed by implantation. During pregnancy, increased nutritional demands make women more susceptible to anemia. Antenatal Care (ANC) plays a crucial role in maintaining maternal health through regular examinations, supplementation, and health education. This study aimed to analyze the relationship between compliance with Antenatal Care visits and the incidence of anemia among third-trimester pregnant women at Aqila Khansa Clinic, Pekanbaru City. This study employed a descriptive-analytic design with a cross-sectional approach. The sample consisted of 54 third-trimester pregnant women selected using accidental sampling. The results showed that 63.0% of respondents were compliant with ANC visits, while 37.0% were non-compliant. Anemia was identified in 35.2% of respondents, whereas 64.8% did not experience anemia. Chi-square statistical analysis revealed a p-value of 0.00, indicating a significant relationship between ANC compliance and the incidence of anemia. In conclusion, compliance with Antenatal Care visits is significantly associated with anemia among third-trimester pregnant women. Pregnant women are encouraged to attend regular ANC visits for early detection of anemia and to maintain adequate nutritional intake and iron supplementation.
