This research was aimed to determine the level of nitrogen content of soil and the growth of spinach treated with Azolla compost fertilizer. The experiment was arranged in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) consisting of 2 groups, which each group consisting of 4 treatments and control with 3 replications. Parameters observed were the growth of spinach plants, including plant height (cm) and dry weight of plant (g). Besides that the levels of ammonium (NH4+) and nitrate (NO3 -) in the soil and the levels of nitrate (NO3 -) in the leaching water were also determined. The results showed, that Azolla compost fertlizer significantly affected spinach height since the third week and also significantly affected the dry weight of spinach. Azolla compost fertilizer significantly influenced the concentrations of ammonium and nitrate at second week and second and fourth weeks, respectively. The nitrate level in the leaching water was also significantly affected by the application of the compost fertilizer.
