The ability to think creatively is one kind of higher order thinking. Wasis et al. (2014) stated that the ability to think critically is not only necessary inthe learning process but also necessary for applications in everyday life. Therefore, the ability to think creatively as part of higher order thinking necessary to serve as one of the important objectives to be achieved for education today. In an effort to develop creative thinking abilities of students, the necessary aspects that can serve as the basis development creative thinking abilities of students, one of the aspects that can be assessed is the ability of self-regulation. This study aims to determine whether there is a relationship between self-regulation with creative thinking ability of students of grade XI in Takalar. The study sample consisted of 134 studentswho were selected using purposive random sampling technique strativied. Data were collected by using self-regulation questionnaire consists of 40 items (α = 0.756) and creative thinking abilities questionnaire consisting of 32 items (α = 0.825). By using simple correlation and regression analysis, found that the correlation coefficient between these two variables is 0.595, p = 0.000 (p <0.05). This value indicates that there is a relationship between self-regulation with creative thinking ability in chemistry and the relationship between the two variables is a positive relationship.
