The Effect of Guided Inquiry Learning Model on Motivation and Critical Thinking Skills of Class XI Science Students of SMAN 6 Wajo (Study on the Subject of Buffer Solution)

This study aims to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning model on learning motivation and critical thinking skills of learners on the material of buffer solution, and to know the correlation between motivation with critical thinking skills. The research was conducted in SMAN 6 Wajo even semester of academic year 2017/2018. The population of this study are students of class XI IPA consisting of four classes. The sample of this research is the students of class XI IPA 2 as the experimental group and XI IPA 1 as the control group. The sample was chosen by simple random sampling technique. The research type is quasi experimental with pretest research design posttest control group design for critical thinking skill and posttest only control group design for learning motivation. The data obtained were analyzed descriptive and inferential. The statistical test used is man withney test to know the influence while to know the relationship using spearman correlation test. The result research : 1. There is significant effect of guided inquiry learning model toward motivation, 2. There is significant effect of guided inquiry learning model toward critical thinking skill, and 3. There is a significant correlation between learning motivati on and critical thinking skills.
