More than 300 million people are affected by anxiety and stress disorders, which have increased by 25% globally. This condition requires the use of non-pharmacological medications. Wellness tourism has become one of the non-pharmacological treatment options with a market growth prospect of 20.9% per year. This study reviews the literature on how health recreation activities impact stress and anxiety reduction. The article selection process in this study used a literature review design in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) guidelines. With a publication limit of the last 5 years, the literature search was conducted through online databases such as Google Scholar, PubMed, and ScienceDirect. The inclusion criteria focused on intervention studies with validated psychological instruments before and after recreational activities. Health tourism such as forest therapy, meditation, yoga, and melukat showed a positive correlation with better mental health. According to the study, anxiety scores and physiological stress, such as cortisol levels, decreased significantly. The main factors that aid psychophysiological relaxation are interaction with nature and breaking away from daily routines. The findings in this literature analysis study indicate that wellness tourism can help reduce anxiety and stress and improve overall mental well-being.
