<![CDATA[This research is motivated by the phenomenon of the lack of intensity of interest in reading, analyzing, and describing visual events in the past of students during history learning. So that to achieve learning success requires learning media that can support the phenomenon of lack of visual intensity of students such as documentary films. This study aims to see the effect of the selected media, namely documentary films on students in learning history and analyzing differences before and after giving documentary film media. This study involved 64 students who were divided into control and experimental classes. The research method used is experimental quantitative research using test instruments and interviews. The results of the study showed that the documentary film of the proclamation of Indonesian independence had a significant effect on visual literacy skills as shown in the partial eta square value of 0.080. This research shows that the chosen media, namely documentary films, can have a significant influence on students' visual literacy skills to analyze historical events that occurred in the past.]]>
