<![CDATA[Adolescence is a sensitive developmental period in which emotional regulation, peer relationships, and self-identity are still forming, while social media has become an increasingly familiar part of daily life. Understanding how social media use appears alongside adolescents’ mental health is important for school-based health promotion and early psychosocial support. This study aimed to describe social media use and mental health status among adolescents at SMP Negeri 1 Abiansemal. A quantitative descriptive study with a cross-sectional approach was conducted among 178 seventh-grade students selected through stratified random sampling. Social media use was measured using a researcher-developed questionnaire, while adolescent mental health status was assessed using the Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire. Data were analyzed using descriptive statistics, including frequency distributions, percentages, and cross-tabulation. The findings showed that most respondents were frequent social media users. Mental health profiles varied across domains, with most adolescents categorized as borderline in the prosocial behavior or strengths domain, normal in the difficulties domain, and normal in general mental health status. Frequent social media use was observed across different mental health categories, indicating a varied psychosocial profile rather than a single uniform pattern. These findings provide baseline information for nurses, teachers, and school health professionals in developing early screening, healthy social media education, and preventive mental health programs for adolescents.]]>
