This study examines the concept of the heart (qalb) as the center of spiritual cognition in Islam, with a specific focus on QS. Muhammad [47]:24. In the classical Islamic tradition, the heart is understood not merely as a biological organ but as the locus of moral, intellectual, and spiritual consciousness that transcends the neurological functions of the brain. The commentaries of al-Ṭabari and Ibn Kathir emphasize that the failure to comprehend revelation does not stem from insufficient intellect, but from a heart that has been sealed due to moral and spiritual conditions. Al-Ghazali’s thought further reinforces this view by distinguishing between the physical heart and the spiritual heart as the instrument for receiving divine knowledge. Contemporary literature in Islamic psychology also reaffirms the essential role of the qalb in cognitive and spiritual processes. Thus, this study highlights the need for an integrative approach that brings together Qur’anic studies and modern cognitive science. Keywords: Heart, Islam, Cognitive, Spiritual, QS. Muhammad [47]:24.
