<![CDATA[This study aims to determine the description of character development of students at MAN 1 Makassar, the implementation of character education in fostering students, as well as the supporting and inhibiting factors faced by Islamic Education (PAI) teachers in developing students’ character at MAN 1 Makassar. The type of research used in this study is descriptive qualitative, with the research location at MAN 1 Makassar, located at Jalan Talasalapang No. 46, Rappocini District, Gunung Sari Subdistrict. The research instruments include observation guidelines, interview guidelines, and documentation, while the data analysis technique is carried out through data reduction and drawing conclusions. The results of this study indicate that the description of character development of students at MAN 1 Makassar can be defined as a fundamental aspect in the process of shaping attitudes and character, including discipline, cooperation, mutual assistance, teamwork, and collaboration with parents. In addition, both supporting and inhibiting factors in the development of students’ character were identified, where one of the inhibiting factors is the lack of students’ awareness in participating in the learning process, such as students entering and leaving the classroom during lessons even when the teacher is already present and the learning process has begun from the first period.]]>
