<![CDATA[Athletes in Indonesia, like in many other nations, are increasingly using their platforms to voice political opinions and engage in activism. This paper examines the role of athletes in Indonesia's political landscape, focusing on their right to protest and the legal, social, and institutional responses to such actions. It critically analyzes the intersection of sports and politics, particularly in a country like Indonesia where political protest has historically been met with varying degrees of support and opposition. Drawing from case studies of athletes who have spoken out on political issues, the paper explores the tension between state control, sports organizations’ policies, and the personal freedoms of athletes. It argues that athletes should be granted the right to engage in political protest while considering the complex political and cultural dynamics within Indonesian society.]]>
