<![CDATA[Background: Maximising breast milk supply during the postpartum period is crucial for successful exclusive breastfeeding and optimal infant growth and development. Inadequate milk production may be influenced by dietary conditions, hormonal fluctuations, and maternal physiological adaptability. Local nutrient-dense foods may serve as natural galactagogues to support lactation. Nike fish (Awaous melanocephalus), a freshwater species indigenous to Sulawesi, contains high-quality protein, essential amino acids, and omega-3 fatty acids that may support breast milk production. This study aimed to assess the efficacy of Nike fish consumption in increasing breast milk production among postpartum women within the jurisdiction of Tagulandang Primary Health Center. Methods: This pre experimental study employed a one-group pretest–posttest design. Conducted from March to May 2026, the study involved 20 postpartum women selected through total sampling. Breast milk production was assessed using an observation checklist before and after the Nike fish consumption intervention. Data were analysed using descriptive statistics and a Paired Sample t-test with SPSS at a 95% confidence level. Results: The mean breast milk production score increased from 5.60 ± 1.14 before intervention to 8.75 ± 0.85 after intervention, with a mean increase of 3.15 points. The Paired Sample t-test showed a statistically significant increase (p < 0.001). Conclusion: Nike fish consumption significantly increased breast milk production and may serve as an economical and culturally appropriate complementary nutritional intervention to support exclusive breastfeeding and maternal and child health.]]>
