This study aims to analyze the need for developing an interactive module based on the local wisdom of Siak weaving using the Creative Problem Solving (CPS) approach to improve scientific literacy of students at SMP Negeri 1 Siak. The research employed a descriptive quantitative approach at the needs analysis stage. The participants consisted of 21 science teachers and 24 eighth-grade students. Data were collected using a needs analysis questionnaire covering four aspects: ethnoscience integration, experience and use of interactive modules, scientific literacy in learning, and the use of the CPS learning model. The data were analyzed descriptively using percentages. The results indicate that teachers and students show fairly good initial readiness toward local-wisdom-based learning and CPS; however, classroom implementation has not been optimal. Learning resources are still dominated by conventional materials, the integration of local wisdom is inconsistent, and the training of scientific literacy and contextual problem-solving skills is not yet structured. Meanwhile, students show high interest in contextual and interactive science learning linked to Siak weaving. These findings highlight the need to develop an interactive module based on the local wisdom of Siak weaving with a CPS approach as a foundation for more contextual and meaningful science learning to enhance students’ scientific literacy.
