STATUS GIZI DAN ACTIVITIES OF DAILY LIVING (ADL) PADA KEJADIAN HIPERTENSI DI SEKOLAH LANSIA TANGGUH KOTA PASURUAN

Abstract

Background: Hypertensive in the elderly increase the risk of morbidity, mortality and reduce the qualityof life. Malnutrition and less physical activity can increase the risk of hypertension. However, there is noresearch that examines the relationship of nutritional status and physical activity with the incidence ofhypertension in the elderly in Pasuruan. Objective: to assess the relationship of nutritional status andADL to the incidence of hypertension in Sekolah Lansia Tangguh Kota Pasuruan. Methods: Analyticalsurvey research with a cross-sectional research design. Nutritional status and ADL are independentvariables. Meanwhile, the incidence of hypertension in this study is the dependent variable. This researchwas conducted at Sekolah Lansia Tangguh Kota Pasuruan, in August 2023. The data used in this researchis secondary data from DP3AKB Kota Pasuruan. The sample in this research was 105 elderly schoolstudents, obtained by consecutive sampling. Data analysis used chi-square test. Results: There is asignificant relationship between nutritional status and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly (p =0.003), but there is no significant relationship between ADL and the incidence of hypertension in theelderly (ρ = 0.793). Conclusion: Nutritional status and incidence of hypertension in the elderly have asignificant relationship. While ADL and the incidence of hypertension in the elderly did not have asignificant relationship. It is recommended to the elderly to control nutritional status and physical activityto control blood pressure.
