This study aims to analyze the feasibility of a Fiber To The Home (FTTH) infrastructure based on Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON), evaluate the performance of a 4 Play network integrating Internet, Internet Protocol Television (IPTV), Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP), and Internet of Things (IoT), and examine the effect of Virtual Local Area Network (VLAN) implementation on service quality. An experimental method was employed by implementing an FTTH-GPON network with three Optical Network Terminals (ONTs). Link feasibility was analyzed using the Link Power Budget, while service performance was evaluated based on throughput, delay, jitter, and packet loss using iPerf3 and Ping under network conditions with and without VLAN. The measured optical power at the three ONTs ranged from −6.63 to −6.33 dBm and remained within the GPON device sensitivity limit. Adding IoT traffic to the network without VLAN reduced the performance of several services. VLAN implementation increased VoIP throughput from 57.6 to 95.4 Mbps and Internet throughput from 95.3 to 99.8 Mbps. VLAN also reduced jitter by up to 95.8% for IoT and 89.1% for IPTV, while IPTV packet loss decreased from 56% to 3.5% and VoIP from 1.2% to 0%. The testing was limited to a specific network configuration and environment. The findings indicate that VLAN can provide an effective traffic-segmentation strategy for maintaining the stability and quality of 4 Play services under simultaneous traffic conditions.
