Abstract

General anesthesia requires optimal post-anesthetic recovery monitoring, including the use of the Aldrete Score. Differences in anesthetic maintenance techniques, such as inhalational sevoflurane and Total Intravenous Anesthesia (TIVA) with propofol, may influence recovery patterns. This study aimed to analyze differences in Aldrete Scores between patients receiving general anesthesia with sevoflurane inhalation maintenance and those receiving TIVA propofol. A comparative quantitative design with a cross-sectional approach was applied. The sample consisted of 30 respondents, including 15 patients in the sevoflurane group and 15 patients in the TIVA propofol group, selected through total sampling. Data were collected by observing Aldrete Scores every 5 minutes from admission to the recovery room until the 15th minute. Data analysis was performed using the Wilcoxon Signed Rank Test and Mann–Whitney test. The results showed an increase in mean Aldrete Scores in both groups during the observation period. Significant improvement was observed in all intervals in the sevoflurane group and up to the 10th minute in the TIVA propofol group. However, the Mann–Whitney test showed no significant difference between groups (p > 0.05). Both anesthetic techniques demonstrated similar recovery patterns without significant differences in Aldrete Scores.
