The closing process of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system is the final stage in completing medical records, indicating that all patient care data have been fully entered. This study aims to identify and analyze the factors causing delays in EMR closing in inpatient wards, focusing on the variables of man, materials, machines, and method. A qualitative method with a content analysis approach was employed. The study was conducted from January to June 2026 involving five informants, consisting of two main informants (U1, U2) and three supporting informants (P1, P2, P3). Data were collected through in-depth interviews, observations, and document reviews, then analyzed through transcription, coding, matrix development, and content analysis. The results showed that delays in EMR closing were mainly caused by incomplete medical records, delayed completion of medical summaries by doctors, inconsistent use of checklists, and the absence of a reward-and-punishment system. These delays also affected the timeliness of follow-up services. In conclusion, the EMR closing process in inpatient wards has not achieved the expected timeliness because obstacles remain in the aspects of man, materials, machines, and method.
